Sustainability
Caring for the land has been part of our family's story for generations.
Sophie's family has worked in horticulture since 1880, growing roses in the Netherlands before moving to the UK in the 1950s. That passion for nurturing plants and respecting the environment continued through an award-winning family garden centre, where looking after the land wasn't just a job—it was a way of life.
Today, as the custodians of Mt Rosa, we're proud to carry those same values into everything we do. We believe exceptional wine starts with healthy vines, thriving soils and a vineyard that will continue to flourish for generations to come.
Sustainability isn't something we do because we have to—it's something we genuinely believe in. Every decision we make, from caring for our vines to protecting the unique landscape of Gibbston, is made with the future in mind.
We're proud to be certified under the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) programme, an independently audited certification that recognises wineries committed to high standards of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
For us, sustainability is about leaving Mt Rosa in even better condition than we found it, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this remarkable place and the wines it produces.
