Tasting notes
Citrus and floral aromatics lead to a rich warmly textured wine showing depth and drive with a soft lingering finish.
Growing season
The 2024 season in Gibbston was nice when it needed to be, and naughty when it could get away with it! The weather was stable, warm and dry when it mattered the most (during budding and flowering). We kept waiting for a temperature drop to increase the acid to match the higher than usual sugar levels. Much like some previous vintages, we made the decision to leave the grapes a little longer on the vine to let them experience the cooler autumn nights. A fantastic decision, we started to pick just before ANZAC Day. In total, we harvested a mammoth 76 tonne (higher than the normal 50 to 60T). As well as drinking beautifully, we are seeing some heavily pronounced aromatics on the nose from every 2024 wine so far. Quality and quantity, what more could we ask for?
Winemaking
All fruit was hand harvested from two vineyards in Central Otago. The majority was picked from our Gibbston Back Road vineyard on 22nd April, with some fruit from Cromwell picked on 5th April. The two whole bunch ferments were pressed to stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels (5%) for fermentation at 12-18 degrees celcius. This allows the aromatics to develop nicely. The final wine was blended and aged on fine lees to give further texture and complexity, before being bottled in November 2024.

Our Pinot Gris is a super versatile wine to pair food with, it’s an excellent option to take to any dinner party! We love it with fresh seafood, ceviche, chicken salad and it’s a great option with a curry or slightly spicy Mexican – try a roasted cauliflower taco.
Cheese to choose - again, this is a great pairing wine – we love it with a creamy burrata, gruyere, camembert, double cream brie, even marinated feta or pecorino is outstanding.

Winemaking
Hand selected from various specific clones in our single estate vineyard in Gibbston, and hand harvested over five days between 1st April and 6th 2019
95% de-stemmed fruit and 5% whole bunch over 8 different fermentations.
Indigenous yeast was used to ferment the wines to dryness. The wines were hand plunged once a day and spent an average of 24 days on skins to extract tannin, colour and aromatics.
The wines were then gently drained and pressed to 225L French oak barriques of which 24% were new French oak. They were then rested and matured for ten months on yeast lees with malolactic fermentation in Spring.
Tasting Notes
Violet, blueberry, wild herb and red currant aromatics lead to an elegant mineral infused palate showing vibrancy, depth and poise.
Optimum Drinking
Now through till at least 2026.
Enjoy With
It perfectly pairs Beef cheeks, lamb and mushroom dishes
