Winemaking
Hand selected from various specific clones in our single estate vineyard in Gibbston, and hand harvested over five days between 1st April and 6th 2019
95% de-stemmed fruit and 5% whole bunch over 8 different fermentations.
Indigenous yeast was used to ferment the wines to dryness. The wines were hand plunged once a day and spent an average of 24 days on skins to extract tannin, colour and aromatics.
The wines were then gently drained and pressed to 225L French oak barriques of which 24% were new French oak. They were then rested and matured for ten months on yeast lees with malolactic fermentation in Spring.
Tasting Notes
Violet, blueberry, wild herb and red currant aromatics lead to an elegant mineral infused palate showing vibrancy, depth and poise.
Optimum Drinking
Now through till at least 2026.

Mt Rosa Pinot Noir: Clone Unknown 2023
Aromatic hints of violet, lavender, and wild herb. These aromas draw the palate into an appealing pop of fresh raspberries and cranberries with fine velvety tannins. This wine is a Pinot Noir made in a lighter beaujolais style and is incorrectly labelled as Gamay due to a historical error.
PH: 3.50
TA: 6.3 g/l
Alcohol: 12.5%
Picked 29/04/2023
80% whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeast. Low plunging regime to start and then plunged once a day. Total fermentation time 26 days, pressed and held for five days before going to older French barriques.

NEW RELEASE: Mt Rosa Pinot Blanc 2024
Tasting Notes
Fleshy peach, brioche and spice aromatics with a vibrant juicy palate showing softness, verve and poise.
Vintage Notes
2024 was nice when it needed to be and naughty when it could get away with it. The weather was stable, warm and dry during budburst and flowering.
We made the decision to leave the grapes a little long on the vine to let them experience the cool autumn nights. A fantastic decision it turns out, and we started to pick just before Anzac Day.
As well as drinking well, we are seeing heavily pronounced aromatics on the nose from every 2024 wine so far. Quality and quantity - we more could we ask for?
