Guide to Gamay Wine
Gamay is a red wine with a light-bodied profile, sharing a striking resemblance in taste to Pinot Noir and has been steadily gaining in popularity in cool-climate regions - New Zealand is the ideal geography. The allure of Gamay wines lies in their delicate floral aromas, understated earthy nuances, and astonishing versatility when it comes to food pairings.
What sets Gamay apart is that a significant portion of its fruit character originates from its captivating aromas, which take precedence over the taste. On the palate, these wines offer a light texture complemented by high acidity and tangy flavors of red fruits, all culminating in a subtle bitter note that lingers on the finish.
